Walk It Back

Posted: March 31, 2012 in Uncategorized

Hey, it’s Caturday.  So here.

Since I am apocalyptically lazy, I am just yoinking a comment I made at Bastard’s and calling it a post.

Also in re: Turdwaffle.

Bad news for him on several fronts. First, the GAB verified the recall signatures, only discarding a scant 3% of them. Still over 900,000; That’s almost as many recall sigs as Turdwaffle had votes.

Tom Barrett, mayor of Milwaukee and general bad-ass, announced his run. Although he lost to Turdwaffle last time, the electorate is no longer amused and the most recent poll has him beating Turd, within the margin of error. Without Feingold, he’s currently running strongest.

And a Federal Judge has struck down a crucial chunk of Turdwaffle’s anti-union Act 10; he said you can’t restrict union activities for one batch of unions (teachers and such) while not restricting them for another batch (firefighters and police). If Walker had done so, he would have been destroyed by the public safety unions.

The courts also tossed out the Voter Id Law that they had hoped to fast-track into use for the recall, thus disenfranchising as many of Milwaukee’s voters as possible.

Also, of interest to my thunderous friend, the insanely industry-friendly and industry-written mining pollution law is DOA. And one legislator who wanted to create a hunting season for sandhill cranes saw his bill go down also.

And the Wis Lege is now no longer Repbulican Majority. One of the lawmakers facing a recall decided to bail, resigning and leaving the legislature at 16-16.

And finally, the Wis Supremos tossed out the republican redistricting plan, and said that they needed to redraw. Repubs said, Oh, darn, look at that, we’re in recess; the judges said fine; we’ll redraw it, you unconscionable chumpnuggets.

Wisconsin was all over the news shows, Maddow, ed, Granholm and O’Donnell. Very weird.

As Substance said, that all seems like it is not-bad.  except for the fact that they are happening at all.  The problem with fighting a reactionary battle like that is that you can never repeal all the advances made by the assholes. And while you are busy trying to avoid the damage they are causing, we can’t work to make progress in other ways.

  1. Enjoy Toronto. It’s a real honest-to-god city, with neighbourhoods and good food and culture and everything. That was quite surprising when coming from Calgary or Edmonton.

    Don’t forget the burnt marshmallow.

It’s hard to win battles against reactionary assholes when the opposition party is controlled by the same plutocrats. (Speaking of Obama and company, at the national level.)

  4. Fucking great cat pics..thank you for that linkie, I need all laughs and smiles I can get lately and they made me howl! although your graphics made me pissed…which isn’t always a bad thing either 😉

As for Turdwaffle..may the bluebird of fate shit all over that man when the recall election comes….no one deserves it more than him..well, him and every other GOP fuck in power.

  5. […] addthis_share = [];}A big hug and thank you to m’dear friend Zombie for this link he put on his blog yesterday. Now, some of ya’ll might not be ‘cat people’, but there is no way in […]

  6. thunder, I am pissed as fuck that the DNC refuses to finance the candidates opposing Paul Ryan. They did it last time round, and they’re doing it this time too.

From what i understand, he’s kind of vulnerable, especially when he keeps authoring these unholy ‘kill all the grannies’ budget bills.

  7. mikey says:

Seems to me that the tactical win would be for the DNC to provide funding to support Paul Ryan.

He’s gonna drag ’em all down the toilet with him…

  8. vacuumslayer says:

Yeah, I agree. I see all these state legislatures chipping away at abortion rigthts and I wonder what century I’m living in. And like you I wonder how long will it take to undo the damage.

  9. Seems to me that the tactical win would be for the DNC to provide funding to support Paul Ryan.

    Well, that’s an interesting theory.

However, doesn’t seem to be happening. If the Republicans hadn’t come out against contraception, sending women to supporting Obama, Rmoney would be petty close to a dead heat in the battleground states. Rmoney beats Obama in the male vote right now.

Of course, men are notorious idiots, but still.

Better still to take Ryan out like the stinky garbage he is. Stinky, ugly, vacant-eyed garbage. It’s like an infestation of squirrels, ya gotta take em out one at a time, trap them and take them far, far away; get them out before they get stuck in the attic for too long, die and get stinky.. And then repair your eaves before new ones can move in.

I admit I may haveta work on that simile.

    YES!!!

The people in Toronto are nice- I went to a Raptors’ game, and I didn’t even hear any foul language. After the game let out, there were only two cops, rather than a phalanx, outside.

  12. Kathleen, would you like to rephrase that comment? It seems a bit like you are doing the happy dance about it, there.

    BBBB, how are they branes?

  13. Kathleen says:

more like shouting less like happy-dancing

Go ahead, tell me how I fucked up this time.
