High Hopes

Hey, Springsteen album.  Check in with Scott and Dan as they discuss the whole album, track by track, and I kibitz.

But I have fallen in desperate and appallingly sloppy love with this track (augmented by Tom Morello both on singing and on slashing guitar):

But more importantly there are new hedgehogs to post.

Here’s a ghostie of the building:

But more importantly, here is a design progress hedgie:

And here it is with the color turned up:

street-B&W 1

All in all, I feel like a cat with a smushed-in face eating a banana.

mikey mocks me because I have the habit of using a bright pink marker to indicate ground lines on elevations or section cuts, since it is not a naturally occurring color.  Good contrast and such, and the AD markers I have in that color have a wonderfully pungent aroma that complements cheap rum really well, if you’re huffington.  The markers have an incredible lifespan, these have lasted since my office was in another building; but even if not, I would just get more of them because it causes mikey to wake up and give me shit.

So here’s a related hedgehog, with pink ground line.

  1. mikey says:

I’d like one of the top floor corner units with the double balconies, please. I like the fact there is no traffic on the street. If only it was pink…

  2. Scott says:

    “I kibitz.”

As you kick the entire thing up to 11, you mean.

  3. mikey says:

I am actually getting a pretty remarkable deal, for two reasons.

First, this entire building is condominiumized, with every unit individually owned, except this one. The Homeowners org owns this one and uses my rent to cover monthly maintenance. Since they’re not heavily invested in maximizing the income, the rent is lower than it could be.

Also, although it’s in a very expensive yuppie area this unit would be fairly hard to rent to normal people. There’s lots of windows, including a 20′ double patio door out onto the balcony, but there is NO view. All the windows face northeast and all that’s out there is another building four meters away. So you can’t see the sky, there’s no way for the sun to get in, it’s dark and if the neighbors across the way weren’t a couple of scantily clad cute european kids, there’d be no view at all.

All of which is just fine with me…

  4. That song-by-song review is interesting. Like you said over there, The Ghost of Tom Joad “justifies every other thing on the entire album.”

  5. mikey says:

Re: the new hedgehog. What’s going on on the roof? Did the NSA commission this building. And why all the vertical dipoles? With the exception of 2 meter and 440cm repeater nets, the internet has pretty much made HAM radio kind of a dumb, redundant exercise…

    • They are pikes upon which the heads of my enemies will serve as a warning.

Or they could, you know, just be sketch lines.

The NSA? You’ve been reading too much surveillance paranoia, seeing the Hand of Doom everywhere. It’s like thunder seeing nefarious plots in everything Obama does.

  6. mikey says:

But wait – the nefarious plots are the NSA’s JOB, fer cryin out loud. Expecting them to execute nefarious plots is like expecting to get a cup of coffee at Starbucks…

Go ahead, tell me how I fucked up this time.
